Facilitating and supporting the communication of science relating to the mushroom industry is a key objective of ISMS. ISMS was founded on the principle of scientists and growers getting together so that industry could hear about the latest research, and growers could provide feedback about the production problems they were facing and discuss the application of the research findings presented. Another important outcome was the opportunity for scientists to get together to discuss science and collaboration. These outcomes were, and still are, the dri-ver for the ISMS congresses. The next one is in Amsterdam in May 2016 – please put the date in your calendar now and start planning to attend. Communication of science and scientific collaboration is of great importance. In a climate of reducing scientific resources dedicated to the mushroom industry, it is essential that those that remain are utilized to their maximum potential.
