The mushroom industry is continually being challenged in today’s world. As with all agriculture, in an effort to feed a growing population, there is a need to incorporate ever increasingly sophisticated technology to get the job accomplished, particularly at a cost that allowsthe grower to survive. The job is made more difficult still, by special interest groups who somehow believe that farming is a lucrative profession and that advances in productivity are only designed to satisfy corporate greed. We are asked; Is it safe? Is it genetically modified? Does it have pesticides? Will it cause cancer?
