Wild Mushroom Food Safety Certification
Oatland Island Wildlife CenterSavannah, GeorgiaA 5-year mushroom foraging permit for SC, GA and NC, VA, PA, NY, RI. This permit will allow for sale of wild foraged mushrooms. Signups will receive a study guide and slides 1 month ahead of the class.
Limited to 30 people, and no refunds will be available for this event.
A wonderful, scenic Wildlife center right outside of Historic Savannah, the island is nestled into the surrounding marsh habitats and houses many native animals in beautiful and spacious enclosures as a bonus to all visitors out strolling around for mushrooms! Smoking, pets, and fishing is not permitted anywhere on the Nature Center grounds. Bring your own lunch.
Taught by our own Anne-Marie Bilella, authorized Mushroom Hunting Instructor. This permit may be valid in other states that have adopted a Code 13 policy, your state will need to contact us to evaluate and approve this permit for your state’s food safety authority.
Anne-Marie is the Farmer, the Baker and the Medicine-Maker at Bella Vista Farm in GA.
She is skilled in herbal medicine, wild weeds, mushrooms and natural products made from herbs. Anne-Marie was self-taught in her herbal studies until a couple years ago when she completed a 10 month hands-on intensive herbal course with Patricia Kyritsi Howell of BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies. She has received the Wild Mushroom ID and Permit from Mushroom Mountain to sell mushrooms in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina as well as become an instructor for Mushroom Mountain.
Currently, Anne-Marie creates her own herbal products with her Bella Vista Naturals line and teaches others about herbal medicine, medicinal mushrooms and wild plant identification. She is a homesteader, blogger and writer for her own blog and has written articles for other blogs, Aroma Culture Magazine and for Mother Earth News - Herbal Living blog.
According to state law, wild foraged mushrooms species must be individually inspected and found to be safe by an approved mushroom identification expert that:
(A) Has met the requirements of knowledge and passed an exam and
(B) Will harvest only those mushrooms species listed on state by state approved list. The list bellow is subject to change.
