Abstract:

On IPC Plant’s mushroom farm a measuring method has been developed in order to determine the relationship between growing process, climate control and use of energy in mushroom growing. This measuring method is based on the comparison of the supply and exhaust climate conditions and air quantities, meaning that the actual energy added or taken from the air is being measured.

By installing additional measuring equipment inside the air conditioning units and by means of special developed processing software the heat, moisture and CO2 release from the growing process as well as the energy necessary for climate control could be recorded.
The recorded data in this project is used to acquire knowledge and gain understanding with regard to:

  • energy requirements of the various growing methods
  • capacity + simultaneity of the air conditioning unit
  • possibilities of climate control and energy saving
  • heat, moisture and CO2 release of the growing process.
