Abstract:

Of the four insecticides viz.. Lindane (20%EC), chlorpyriphos (20%EC), aldicarb (10%G) and carbofuran (3%G) tested for incorporation treatments, aldicarb at all the three dosages (12.5, 25 and 50 ppm) increased the spawn-run with increase in dosage followed by chlorpyriphos. Lindane at all the three dosages (25, 50 and 100 ppm) neither increased nor decreased the spawn-run, however, carbofuran at all the three dosages (12,5, 25 and 50 ppm) decreased the spawn-run. The increase or decrease in spawn-run was evident up to 14 days after spawning but there was no difference in spawn-run 21 days after spawning because in such treatments slow increase in the spawnrun ultimately reached the same level by taking comparatively more time. Of the three methods, incorporations in the compost gave maximum number and yield of mushrooms followed by incorporations in the compost + casing and casing alone, However, the number and yield of mushrooms was higher than control in the compost + casing treatment but was lower than control in the casing treatment. Of the insecticides tested for incorporations, aldicarb at 12.5 and 25 ppm and lindane at 25 and 50 ppm gave more number and yield of mushrooms than control whereas chlorpyriphos at all the three dosages gave less number and yield of mushrooms. The size of mushrooms (weight/mushroom) did not differ significantly in different treatments.
