Abstract:

Amongst pathogenic fungi parasitising Agaricus, cobweb disease due to Cladobotryum dendroides renders extensive damage by either causing a soft rot or decay of the fruiting body. It rapidily becomes epidemic, thereby causing heavy losses and if heavy infection is followed by insufficient care it takes years for elimination (Wood, 1958). From India it was recorded in Chail and Shimla which are important areas for mushroom cultivation (Seth, 1977). Since adequate information about the cause of this problem and its control is lacking it became essential to locate suitable measures for its control.
