Title: Valid, Invalid and Confusing Taxa of the Genus Pleurotus
Author: O. Hilber

Abstract:

Many mycologists over the whole world are studying the species concept of the genus Pleurotus (Fr.) Kummer. But there are some reasons claiming this fungus not to be such an easy study object.

One of these reasons is, that the commercial mushroomgrowers, biochemists, but also taxonomists themselves don’t use the correct taxonomie name. The mistakes are of different origin. Therefore this paper is divided into the following subjectives:

1. a taxonomical outline of the genus Pleurotus – the taxonomie position of Pleurotus within the kingdom of fungi. 2. delimitation of the genera Pleurotus, Panus and Lentinus. 3. true taxa of the genus Pleurotus and their synonyms. 4. synthesis and separation of taxa by modern methods in the biosystematic research. 5. doubtful taxa.
