Abstract:
Multiflex WSS: A new concept of supplying water for the production of mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus), in which an optimal water distribution is combined with measurement data and maintenance programs to achieve the best results and optimize the use of water.

Water sensors have been used to monitor the moisture in nine mushroom cultivation cycles. The sensors react to modifications in the casing soil when it is watered from above. If they are placed in the compost layer, they follow more or less the same pattern. Additionally, the ‘compost and casing sensors’ also react when the pins start absorbing water for evaporation and mushroom development.

The data of these measurements seem to be suitable for the automated Multiflex WSS. However, this has to be confirmed with further tests.
